& Split Pine 2m3

Seasoned, Excellent Burning 2024

$680

Gum is a hardwood. Slow burning, maximum heat output. Suited to both open fires and log burners.  A softwood or kindling should be used to start your fire and a medium or soft wood should be used with gum once a good fire is established. Gum will absorb rain and this should be considered when purchasing during winter.

Split Pine is a softwood. It will generally burn faster than other woods. Good heat output. Good to start your fire. Split Pine may absorb the rain readily due to its soft nature, consider this characteristic when purchasing. Split Pine can be susceptible to mould that grows on the surface of the wood utilising sugars and other carbohydrates. It gives the wood a woolly or powdery appearance, but does not affect the firewood.

To identify Gum from Split Pine, you will feel the weight. Ends will look smooth almost like paper whereas Split Pine will look rough.

Once a hot bed of embers has been created, mix burn Gum & Split Pine throughout the day. At night stoke the fire with Gum for a long slow burn.

Don’t leave Gum sitting on your driveway after delivery. Blue Gum resin can mark and leave a dark stain after a while.

Ash should be cleaned from firebox every 3-5 weeks. Once cool – most fruit trees love it as mulch.

Make sure your firebox and flue are cleaned and inspected each year for your firewood to work efficiently.

ORDER NOTE: Ordering two loads (8m3) of a combo like this one is often more expensive than ordering 4m3 of each of the two single wood types.
